The Tandaa Digital Content Grant is divided into two categories: Government Data Applications and Private Sector Innovation.

Who Should apply in this category?

In the Private Sector category, the Kenya ICT Board will select the most innovative proposals that demonstrate long term business viability. Proposal in this category must respond to a clear market need and have a positive impact on the community it seeks to serve.

When preparing your proposal, please be sure to respond to the criteria below, pay special attention to the weighting of each criteria.

For the Private Sector category, 'innovation' is the focus and innovative ideas will be awarded more marks.

> The content or application must introduce new concepts or technology process in its area of implementation or should be new to Kenya

>The content must not violate the Kenyan or the International copyright act or the intellectual property rights

Sustainable>The content or application must demonstrate viability beyond the funding phase

Potential impact on community

>The solution must meet the needs of the target population irrespective of geographic area, literacy level, race and gender


>The solution should be neutral and not prejudicial to any group, race, tribe, age group and should be inclusive, that is, accessible to persons with disabilities and non partisan

Replicable and easily expandable

>The solution must be accessible through web and mobile technology


>The solution will be available in English and Swahili
